I’m applying to take the CPA exam, any tips from experience?

Get a study program and practice practice practice.
Becker is one that a lot of people use and swear by, but it’s also the most expensive (about $3k for all 4 sections).
I use Exam Matrix. It’s about 1/3 the cost of Becker and I passed 3 sections on my first try. The section I didn’t pass on the first try I missed by 1 point, and it was REG which I know was my weak area (I am NOT a tax person, I’m an audit person!). I’m sure I’ll pass it next time.
I’ve also heard good things about Bisk and Wiley, but don’t have personal experience with either of those.

See if your school or employer has any special deals with any of the review courses or if your employer will reimburse any of the costs after you pass. Your local CPA organization might be another good resource for discounts. My local CPA organization offered I think a $500 discount on Becker if you had a student membership, which was like $25.

CPA Exam Review Tip Number One

Given the fact that too many public school hours are wasted in meaningless activities ranging from talking to extra-curricular activities, do not allow public school hours to dictate the time you should spend teaching your child at home. Remember that at home, he is getting a high-quality one-to-one time that is highly productive. About 1-3 hours of study is enough in the primary level. It is of course true that the more number of hours you put in, the more learning takes place. This is also the reason why homeschooling children are much smarter and more balanced than regular school going children.

Hello. This is a VERY good field to look into. It really doesnt take that long to get certified it just depends on how they teach or where you go to determine how long it will take you to finish. You have 2 options:

1. CVS, that is where I worked and i became Certifiied Pharmacy Technician. I am still there now. I enjoy it. It is a great opportunity to work because you have alot of options like. You start off As a PSA.

Pharmacy Service Associate (PSA)

This is an entry-level role. The primary focus for a PSA is on customer service. Responsibilities within the position include: Ringing out prescriptions, answering telephones, and Pharmacist referrals. The role of the PSA is important because he/she is often the first person with whom the customer comes into contact. The impression that the PSA gives the customer may determine the outcome of that customer’s experience at CVS/pharmacy.

Pharmacy Technician

This is a second level position that builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the PSA. The role of the Technician is focused on customer service and prescription order processing, as well as problem resolution and inventory management. The role of the Technician is important because he/she helps to ensure that the right customer receives the right prescription, every time.

Pharmacy Lead Technician

This is a third-level position that builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the Tech. The role of the Pharmacy Lead Technician includes more focus on mentoring and guiding support staff members in team development. The Lead Technician is important because he or she serves as a role model for for other Pharmacy Support Staff, and supports the Pharmacist.

You can also call your local cvs, and talk with the lead manager or the pharmacist in charge.

2. You can go to a community college and alot of them have started classes where you go for 6-8 weeks and it helps you prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Exam. My friend done that and she passed. They meet for like 4-5 hours 3 or 2 times a week

The first question one should ask is… what is a pharmacy technician and what does a pharmacy technician do? First of all, a pharmacy technician is not a pharmacist. A well trained, competent pharmacy technician must therefore be knowledgeable enough to suggest alternative brands for off the counter medication but alternatives for prescribed medication is solely the responsibility of licensed pharmacists.

A pharmacy technician is sometimes required to perform certain manual tasks like labeling bottles, counting pills or doing inventory. In some areas of the country, the tasks of a pharmacy technician and a pharmacist aide overlap so don’t be surprised if on occasion, you end up being asked to complete tasks meant for the latter.
