With the recent rise in families transitioning from public education to home schooling, one naturally wonders, is there truly an advantage of home schooling? Take a look at the following 5 areas that you will have more control over.

Scheduling The first thing most people think about with home schooling is the flexibility in their child’s schedule. You can adjust your teaching schedule to your child’s natural, body schedule. Is your child most alert in the mornings? You can schedule his hardest subjects at that time to maximize his learning.

Individual attention The way conventional schools are set up, with up to thirty kids in a class, there is just no way a teacher can devote individual attention to each child. Individual attention to one student takes away too much from all the other students.

The student needing one-on-one instruction then gets left behind. With individual attention that homeschooling provides, you can take as little, or as much time, as needed for your child to learn the lesson.

Curriculum Schedule Your child’s homeschooling schedule can be adjusted to cater to his strengths and weaknesses. For example, if your child is struggling with a certain math concept, but easily understands the science lessons, you can adjust their schedule accordingly. Public schools just can’t do that for each student.

Peer pressure in school Peer pressure at school can be, at times, a huge distraction in your child’s learning. The latest fashions, dating, sports, drugs, alcohol – these are no longer a ‘school’ issue with home schooling like they are at public schools.

Religion With homeschooling, the parent decides if and how much of their ideologies and beliefs to teach their child. For some parents, this is THE reason why they homeschool. For others, just an added benefit.

Do you agree with the big-bang theory for the creation of earth, or that God created earth? Whichever you believe, it is up to you to which your child learns about.

This just gives you a taste of the flexibility of home schooling. Whereas some kids learn just fine in the public education system, many do not.
